The Opportunity As an experienced Estimator working in the Major Projects team at Pomerleau Construction, you will support new and ongoing project growth and challenge industry standards with your trade-driven expertise and knowledge. Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will work closely with our proposals team and various client groups to secure bids and ensure project success. What You Will Do Responsible for accuracy of bid cost created in Hard Dollar estimating software. Analyze documents, drawings, specifications, and proposals, in preparation for pricing. Visit project sites prior to price preparation. Obtain input from Operations staff as appropriate. Performs quantity take-off from construction drawings where applicable. Supports the process to obtain pricing from suppliers and Subcontractors and incorporate into estimate. Formulates costs for tender submission – labor, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts. Good understanding of risks relevant to scope of works priced. Manages the handover process upon award of project. Maintains files and correspondence on active and completed tenders. Complies with Estimating process / procedure and consistency. Maintains positive relationships with Clients, Consultants, and key subcontractors. Protects all forms of proprietary information. Maintains Estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date. What YOU Will Bring Minimum 5 years of progressive estimating experience depending on major construction projects. Preferably in the rail or transportation industry. Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) is essential, experience of using estimating software. Estimating software experience required, ideally using HD. An understanding of site conditions that impact bid costs, ensure constructability. A knowledge of various types of construction contracts (particularly Cost Reimbursable, Target, and Guaranteed Maximum Price.). Attention to detail, mathematical and analytical skills, and accuracy. The expected salary range for this opportunity is $108,000 - $146,000. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and geographical location. Listed compensation is exclusive of bonus and in addition to our extensive employee benefits program which is listed above. Availability of certain benefits may vary based on the specific job role.
Responsibilities
