About the Role ConnectSydney, a dynamic joint venture between Service Stream, Boral and Johnson Controls, will be delivering the Sydney Road Assets Performance Contract for the Harbour Zone in metropolitan Sydney. The role of the Estimator is to provide the technical services, support, and management required to complete tenders or bids by way of building up rates, schedules, quantities, and pricing, ensuring that all key conditions of the tender are complied with. Key Responsibilities: Planning and pricing of infrastructure capex & maintenance projects. Duties will include but will not be limited to the following: Perform detailed quantity take-off and develop BOQ's. First principle estimating. Consideration of alternative construction and maintenance methods to differentiate the tender. Maintenance of records of all tender correspondence, calculations, and envisaged methodologies. Contributing to accurate estimates in a timely and technically accurate manner; Carrying out site inspections. Presenting tenders at tender review meetings. Collect actual cost data to support the estimate. Collect, store, analyse, and manage estimating data, to produce timely and accurate information to inform decision-making. Ensure that all company governance is complied with and provide senior management with regular updates on bid progress. Ensure that all tender deadlines are met. Where tender rates are built up, ensure that there are independent checks and peer reviews are completed on all calculations. Ensure cost estimates are transcribed clearly within estimating software. Where external prices are sought for materials, plant, labour, services, and subcontractors unless there are exceptional circumstances a minimum of three prices will be obtained. Ensure that all spreadsheets or tender workups are well recorded, and can be picked up and understood by any member of the team. Ensure that key Bid themes are clearly articulated in the presented document. Ensure that a commercial and legal review is completed of bid terms and conditions and that salient actions are incorporated into the tender or bid submission. Develop a forward works program in consultation with the Asset Maintenance Planning Manager. Development of cost estimates for minor improvement and renewal projects in consultation with the Network Delivery Manager. About You: Australian Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum 3-5 years of demonstrated local bidding experience. Prior knowledge in Bluebeam Revu and Candy estimating software will be highly regarded but not required. Experience within civil road & bridge experience, road technology, or related industry. Knowledge of TfNSW roadworks, ITS, and bridgeworks specifications. Implement the estimating plan and amend it as required. Strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and effective multitasking abilities.
