Company Description Job Title: Estimator Location: Albany, New York Metropolitan Area Full time Responsibilities: Obtain and review contract documents to define scope and potential risks. Develop comprehensive and accurate bid proposals including detailed quantity take-offs, preliminary construction schedules and solicitation of material and subcontractor quotations. Break bid items down into tasks and develop labor, equipment and materials needs. Evaluate potential subcontractor needs on a given project, descope quotes received to ensure completeness and determine what, if any, support needs are required. Maintain and analyze historical costs to ensure an accurate proposal. Formulate contingency plans and effectively manage risks that may impact cost and time estimates. Evaluate alternative construction methods and potential value‑engineering opportunities. Manage pre-bid development of project D/M/WBE & SDVOB plan and good faith efforts. Accurately prepare bid documents for timely submission. Attend pre-bid meetings and travel to sites as required. Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with executive management team. Work as a team with other estimators and project managers on a daily basis in all aspects of the estimating department. Help prepare post bid documentation for award. Attend/coordinate estimating handoff to the project management team. Review performance of completed jobs with project management staff to identify lessons learned and to assist with future proposals. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or demonstrate comparable field experience. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bridge and/or heavy highway construction estimating and/or project management A record of successfully estimating heavy civil construction between $1M and $15M. Have a working knowledge of means and methods, crew composition, and production rates for heavy civil construction. Experience with alternate project delivery methods such as Design Build is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office software, Adobe or Bluebeam and Ineight Estimate or similar estimating software. Strong attention to detail Ability to problem-solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
