The Opportunity Step into a pivotal role on our Sydney Roads and Asset Performance contract as an Estimator. You’ll play a key part in shaping winning tender submissions, delivering accurate, competitive estimates to Transport for NSW and third-party clients, and directly contributing to Ventia’s continued success. Key Accountabilities Prepare and submit cost estimates for clients (TfNSW and third parties), ranging from high-level concept estimates to detailed IFC-based estimates for fixed-price tenders, using first-principles, subcontractor quotations, time-based costs, or a hybrid approach. Responsible for quantifying works and preparing Bills of Quantities using TfNSW pay items at strategic, concept, and design stages. Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations. Present estimates for management review and participate in estimate and project risk reviews. Provide estimate handover and debrief to delivery teams upon award. Coordinate with the Tender Coordinator to ensure accurate document control in SharePoint and maintain relevant registers. Collaborate with SRAPC stakeholders across commercial, delivery, planning, development, and asset management functions. Apply Ventia commercial policies consistently and participate in performance and development reviews. Develop detailed construction programs and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS). Develop staging plans and construction methodologies. Identifying, assessing, and managing project risks and opportunities. Could you be our next Estimator? A relevant qualification in Engineering or a related discipline. Extensive experience in an Estimator role, with preference for candidates experienced in road works and desirable experience in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) projects. Demonstrated experience preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions. Experience estimating road projects in the $2M to $20M range. A current driver's license. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a high level of self-motivation. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Microsoft Project. Experience utilising estimating software’s such as CATS or Expert will be prefer.
