POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for an Estimators to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a high level of attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication, and experience working for a General Contractor. The ideal individual will also love what they do, be self-motivated and accountable, and adaptable.
Our Estimators are involved in researching, sourcing, negotiating, and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors. They are responsible for estimating a variety of commercial and light industrial projects with a direct contribution to cost management and budgeting for various high-level projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education in engineering, construction estimating, building technology, quantity surveying, or other related courses
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction and cost estimating.
  • Experience completing multi-discipline takeoffs and estimates for a construction company, preference will be given to candidates with General Contractor experience
  • Understanding of building construction from concept to completion
  • Understanding of a construction worksite and sequencing is considered an asset
  • Ability to document and organize complex streams of information efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to clearly communicate estimating concepts to various individuals in the organization
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal)
  • Ability to lead by example and set the standard of professionalism
  • Proficiency with computers (Microsoft Office, Timberline, MS Project, Insite) and on-screen takeoffs
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, task management, and planning skills
Responsibilities
  • Review and develop discipline and multi-discipline material and quantity takeoffs
  • Evaluate and develop construction rates, subcontract cost estimates, and proposals
  • Perform productivity analyses of cost estimates, including comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects
  • Review designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness, and provide recommendations for alternatives where applicable
  • Research, source, negotiate, and obtain the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Supply necessary sub-trades and suppliers with required drawings and data
  • Field construction-related questions from sub-trades and suppliers
  • Assist in completing preliminary (high-level) construction schedules
  • Work closely with the Operations and Development teams to prepare, identify, and understand scopes of work and prepare project documentation
  • Develop and maintain sub-contractor and suppliers’ databases
