REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in public administration / relations, or public policy or equivalent
  • At least 7 years prior experience in the field with a preference for experience doing government affairs for an industrial or manufacturing company and/or in a directly equivalent regulatory or legislative capacity
  • A broad understanding of the European Union’s and Germany’s administrative, legislative and regulatory processes
  • A broad understanding of manufacturing and business issues in industries relevant to Gore
  • The ability to understand and analyze technical issues and communicate effectively about them with government officials
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, actively contributing to a highly collaborative, team-based work environment
  • A demonstrated ability to build and maintain relations with internal and external stakeholders
  • A proven track record of active engagement in professional groups relevant to Gore
  • Business fluent in English and German essential; French and/or other European language beneficial
  • Ability to travel 25-30% of the time
    Remote Working Arrangements are permitted for Associates, with appropriate approval and compliance with Gore’s remote working policies, from the country in which they are employed.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a European Government Relations Associate (f/m/d) to join our global Government Relations team. The role of Government Relations is to advance Gore at the Enterprise and business unit level by focusing on critical issues, advocating for Gore’s interests, building and leveraging relationships with key government officials and trade groups, and complying with relevant transparency and ethics requirements.
This is a remote position and you can work from home in most locations that are within the EU member states.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strengthen our external stakeholder engagement and advocacy in the European Union; with clear focus on administrative, legislative and regulatory matters at the EU level as well as in Germany and other European countries in which Gore operates
  • Advise and support Gore at the Enterprise and business unit level with monitoring, understanding and influencing local, national and European Union government bodies on a wide range of topics that may critically affect Gore
  • Contribute to the work of trade associations of which Gore is a member
  • Coordinate legislative affairs, stakeholder engagement as well as crises management planning as they relate to government relations across all of Gore’s European sites
  • Participate in Government Relations issues with Gore’s operations globally, if required
  • Cooperate closely with other Associates in the Government Relations team, directly reporting to Gore’s European Government Relations leader
  • Collaborate closely with various relevant internal stakeholders such as Associates active in regulatory or sustainability
