Description Rosie’s Place was founded in 1974 as the first women’s shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunities, and find security in their lives. Over the years, we have become much more than a shelter. We are a multi-service community center that not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for thousands of women a year through wide-ranging support, housing, and education services. Rosie’s Place relies on the generous support of individuals, foundations, and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding. OPPORTUNITY The Weekend and Evening Manager creates a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for guests who are seeking to access services. They supervise a team of Essential Service staff, who offer concrete assistance to several hundred guests, staff, and visitors, 7 days a week. Additionally, they will oversee day-to-day operations of the emergency services and serve as the Manager on duty in the evenings and on weekend days. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Administrative Leadership & Team Management: Oversee all operations of the Essential Service staff, including staffing, provision of essential services to guests and collaboration with other Rosie’s Place programs. Hire, train, schedule and supervise all permanent and fill-in Essential Service staff, responsible for ensuring coverage at the front desk, the food programs, and the overnight shelter. Responsible for scheduling in different roles and ensuring all the Essential Service programs are adequately covered, which may include scheduling fill-in staff and/or personally providing coverage in the Essential Service programs. Work with other Rosie’s Place program managers to ensure the safe and smooth coordination of Essential Service operations. Serve as member of the management team, including participation at appropriate meetings and demonstrating leadership in the organization. Ensure that Essential Services staff are following all organizational policies and procedures. Ensure that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are values that are being practiced throughout all Essential Services. Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Emergency Services. Guest and Visitor Relations: Oversee program collaboration of all guest services including food access, advocacy support, recovery, and mental health to ensure guests are aware of and have access to all that’s offered at Rosie’s Place. Represent Rosie’s Place to the larger community emulating Rosie’s Place core values and supporting our mission. Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Emergency Services. Requirements Bilingual strongly preferred with five years of human services experience working with marginalized communities, and two years of supervisory experience. Strong commitment to social justice and the mission of Rosie’s Place. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, think quickly in dynamic situations, and create a welcoming environment for everyone. Strong customer service mindset with an effective and diplomatic, yet supportive communication style. Demonstrated ability to welcome, train, motivate, and manage a diversity of people from various backgrounds. Excellent organization and communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with strong attention to detail and follow-through. Dependable and flexible. PHYSICAL REQIREMENTS Day-to-day work includes lifting, cleaning, sorting as well as interaction with staff and guests. Individuals must be physically able to safely lift 20lbs, reach, bend and stoop and move around quickly. WORK EXPECTATIONS We are a hands-on team and seek employees who are passionate about our work and service to our community. The Weekend and Evening is an exempt position and is expected to work onsite at Rosie’s Place during their work week and engage regularly with staff, guests, and volunteers. This position’s schedule is Monday through Wednesday 11am to 7pm, and Weekends 9am to 5pm. We continue to adapt to safety protocols related to COVID-19 as we understand them and all employees must follow our safety protocols. Among these protocols, we require all employees to be up to date with their COVID vaccinations. Requests for medical or religious exemptions from the COVID vaccination are considered. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The starting salary range for this full-time, exempt position is $75,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience.
