Job Title: Part-Time Recovery Support Worker / Recovery Coach
Location: Calgary, AB
Job Type: Part-Time
Pay: $18–$20/hour

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Recovery Coach program (or willingness to complete NAM in-house training).
  • Lived experience in addiction/mental health recovery and ability to use that experience to support others or Medical Background in field.
  • 1+ year of relevant work or volunteer experience (preferred).
  • Food Handling Certification.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification.
  • Training or strong skills in critical incident and crisis management.
  • Ability to handle high-stress, emotionally intense situations.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Computer literacy, particularly with electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Energetic, empathetic, and grounded in healthy personal boundaries
Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group support to clients facing addiction, mental health, or housing instability.
  • Assist clients in setting and achieving goals outlined in personalized recovery plans.
  • Conduct intakes, screenings, and follow-ups.
  • Facilitate peer-based recovery groups, workshops, and recreational outings.
  • Apply trauma-informed care and crisis de-escalation strategies when necessary.
  • Assist with daily life skills: meal planning, household tasks, program schedules.
  • Provide emotional support, accountability, and relapse prevention planning.
  • Monitor wellness and safety in common areas.
  • Support transportation to/from appointments (using personal or agency vehicles).
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation via Med Access, FYIdb, and My Recovery systems.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and case conferences.
  • Lead by example in practicing tools such as meditation, yoga, breath-work, tapping, CRM, prayer/intention setting, etc.
  • Ensure alignment with NAM’s Principles for Harmonious Living and mission pillars.

  • Availability for flexible shifts (evenings, weekends, early mornings, holidays).
  • Open availability strongly preferred, especially for shifts such as:
  • Weekdays: 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm / 3.30-9 or4:30 pm – 9:00 pm
  • Saturdays and Sunday - 1-9pm Must be available
  • The shift will rotate from Sunday to Wednesday. The next week will be Thursday to Sunday.
