Responsibilities

You will play a vital role at supervision level role at our prestigious venue, where we’re passionate about delivering exceptional experiences that guests will remember for a lifetime. As a Evening Supervisor, you’ll play a vital part of involvement leading our friendly front of house team, and overseeing the evening service of our events and weddings to ensuring a smooth, polished, and professional delivery as well as safe procedures and practices at the end of an Wedding or Event.
With a hands-on approach, you’ll help set the tone for outstanding hospitality, guiding your team to uphold the highest standards of customer service, detail, and communication. Previous experience from supervisory level experience within Hospitality environment is ideally required.
This role is offered on a casual zero hours basis and shift times generally start at 6pm ending between 12am-2am depending on each event, the number of hours and shift times can vary depending on the needs of the business and based on events bookings, and hours per week on a varying rota,
The successful candidate will be an individual who’s flexible and available to work across a mix of weekdays, weekends, daytime, and evening shifts, as flexibility is paramount for this role, particularly during our peak wedding season which runs April to Sept/October, when events are especially more frequently on weekends. While you won’t always be scheduled to work every weekend or both days each weekend, rotas will reflect the needs of our events bookings and are normally planned a month in advance where possible. During our quieter months October/November to March, weekend shifts are generally less frequent, offering a more balanced schedule.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Lead front of house staff on event evenings, in collaboration with Wedding & Events Managers on the day, allocating roles and ensuring high performance.
  • To be fully aware of the allergen guidance
  • Co-ordinating the set up and preparation of the buffet, including displaying of sweet-carts, chocolate fountains etc
  • Liaising with Head Chef to ensure the smooth running of evening buffet service
  • Co-ordinating the front of house team for the evening of the wedding.
  • Responsibility for safe guarding the venue, guests and staff, following the Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Responsibility for new members of staff, settling them in on first shift, and providing initial training.
  • Perform and guide Front of House staff on required duties and tasks throughout evenings, ensuring smooth, timely delivery.
  • Supervise bar service in line with licensing regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain high standards of guest experience, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Ensure staff adhere to dress code, timekeeping and service standards throughout shifts, in collaboration with on shift Wedding & Events Managers.
  • Work closely with the Wedding & Events Manager team to deliver standout events.
  • Working with the Events team to consistently strive to make efficiencies and improvements.
  • Ensuring the venue is cleared down at the end of the night
  • Responsible for handing requirements to the Night Porter
  • Adhere strictly to all health & safety and operational procedures.
  • Provide occasional emergency cover across other venues within the group as required.
  • Required to complete mandatory in person first aid 1 day training course which is working outside a regular shift Mon-Fri 9-5, as a one off (renewable every 3 years) time to complete training is paid and normally minimum of 1 months notice of the date to allow you to ensure your ability to participate.

Person Specification (Who We’re Looking For):

  • Proven experience in a hospitality, preference for those with exposure in events/wedding sector, but not compulsory.
  • Confident and approachable leader with the ability to motivate and guide a team calmly and effectively, and confident when handling challenging situations or occasional conflict, with the ability to resolve issues professionally and diplomatically, whether with guests or team members.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to plan-ahead and think on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professional, friendly, and clear with both guests and colleagues.
  • Strong customer service focus with a passion for delivering memorable guest experiences.
  • Able to manage time well, multitask under pressure, and maintain composure during busy event operations.
  • Committed to upholding high standards in personal presentation, behaviour, and service delivery.
  • Reliable and trustworthy, someone we can count on to represent our venue professionally and consistently.
  • A true team player who contributes positively to the team dynamic but is also confident working independently and taking initiative when needed.
  • Flexibility to work evenings across both weekdays and weekends in line with event bookings.
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude, happy to step in wherever needed to support the wider team.
  • Previous guest facing experience and/or within hospitality.
  • Good standard of both written and spoken English is must

Our venue is in a rural location with limited public transport access, which if relying on public transport would entail significant rural walking to reach our venue should you commute this way.
