Never Alone Cancer Foundation improves the lives of people affected by cancer by providing emotional, financial, and informational support to them, their families, and their caregivers. Last year, more than 600 Manitobans received support from the Never Alone Cancer Foundation when there was nowhere else to turn. Everything the Never Alone Cancer Foundation does depends on the generosity of our community. As such, fundraising plays a key role on our team.  We’re a small, passionate organization with a great volunteer base and an engaged Board of Directors, and we’re excited to be adding this new position to support Never Alone Cancer Foundation’s fundraising efforts.
 Summer Student Job Profile:
Reporting to, and working with, the Executive Director along with the Events, Communications & Volunteer Manager, the Event & Media Coordinator will support activities to ensure the success of NACF events and sustain financial and community support. You must be a dynamic, energetic, and outgoing person able to solicit people for event participation, donations and prizing. You’ll be helping to organize and execute fundraising events, including third-party events. Managing multiple priorities and deadlines while working collaboratively with colleagues and other stakeholders is key. This will also entail working with volunteers to help fulfill event obligations. This position is ideal for someone who is outgoing, enthusiastic and enjoys working with people.

 Tasks:

  • Assist at events including set-up, tear down, and have well-informed interactions with the public about NACF during the events
  • Host NACF information tent to promote NACF events
  • Design and develop marketing/creative materials for events using Canva, Photoshop, and Word
  • Plan and develop content to be used for online marketing including social media platforms, mass email campaigns and NACF website
  • Support email, phone and in-person marketing campaigns to enlist event participants
  • Work directly with Events Manager and provide assistance for NACF events
  • Provide constructive feedback after the event
  • Run errands including package pick-up and drop-offs
  • Attend meetings relevant to events
  • Other tasks as needed to make an event both a financial and reputable success

Skills:

The successful candidate is an experienced, collaborative and hard-working fundraiser who wants to contribute to a successful event and marketing campaign.

  • Strong oral and writing skills, particularly experience with fundraising and donor-centered communications
  • Previous experience in sales and/or fundraising is an asset
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and specifically Excel
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and make decisions
  • Interest in learning and growing professionally
  • Must drive and have access to a vehicle
  • Must be available for evenings leading up to and weekends for event dates (includes but not limited to May 31, June 1 & Sept 8 Dragon Boat Races, Golf tournament July 24, Cancer Walk September 15)
  • Interest in working with the public and supporting people who are living with cancer

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 5 months
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
