Position Overview The Event Designer is responsible for developing creative concepts, themes, and storytelling for events, and translating these ideas into visually compelling and technically feasible designs. This role requires strong event design experience, spatial thinking, and technical understanding to ensure all designs can be accurately produced and executed on-site. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and experienced in live event environments. Key Responsibilities Concept Development & Storytelling Develop creative event concepts, themes, and storytelling based on client briefs and objectives. Translate client requirements into clear design directions that align with brand identity and event goals. Prepare concept decks, mood boards, and visual presentations for internal and client review. Event Design & Visualisation Design overall event look and feel, including stage, backdrop, LED screens, décor, props, and spatial layout. Produce or support 3D drawings / spatial visualisations to communicate design intent effectively. Ensure consistency of design across all event touchpoints. Technical & Production Knowledge Apply strong event technical knowledge, including understanding of: Stage size and layout LED screen resolution, aspect ratio, and content mapping Lighting concepts and basic rigging requirements Ensure all designs meet accurate measurement and production requirements, including sizing for backdrops, printing, LED content, and structures. Review venue layouts and conduct site recce to ensure designs are practical and buildable. Collaboration & Execution Work closely with Event Project Managers to align design concepts with budget, timeline, and venue constraints. Liaise with vendors such as AV teams, fabricators, printers, and decorators to ensure correct execution of designs. Attend rehearsals and event days to oversee setup and ensure final execution matches approved designs. Revise designs based on feedback while maintaining creative quality and technical accuracy. Qualifications & Experience Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Event Management, Design, Interior Design, Visual Communication, or related field. Proven event design experience in live events (experience beyond pure graphic design is required). Strong ability in concept development and storytelling. Good-to-have 3D drawing or rendering skills (e.g. SketchUp, 3D Max, Blender, or similar). Solid understanding of event technical fundamentals (stage, LED, lighting, rigging). Experience working with measurements, scale, and production specifications for event builds and print outputs. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Strong communication and collaboration skills. Fluent in English and Mandarin; Bahasa Malaysia (BM) is an added advantage. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during event periods.
