JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dynamic and engaging Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the IIABC Annual Awards Night. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a charismatic and energetic presence, and the ability to connect with diverse audiences. As the MC, you will play a pivotal role in setting the tone for the evening, facilitating award presentations, and ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
Location: Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre, Abbotsford, BC
Date: November 17, 2025
Event Time: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM [1.5 hours of event, 3-4 hours of pre-event script preparation at IIABC Office (In-person)]

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience as an emcee or public speaker, preferably at events or hospitality-related settings.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on creating positive experiences for guests.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and non-verbal, with the confidence to speak in front of large audiences.
  • Engaging personality, with the ability to energize and entertain diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with event logistics and the ability to work collaboratively with event staff to ensure a smooth experience.
  • A friendly demeanor and a passion for creating memorable experiences for guests.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed, based on the event schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary host for the event, introducing speakers, award winners, and activities.
  • Engage with guests throughout the evening to create an inviting and high-energy atmosphere.
  • Coordinate with event planners and staff to ensure smooth transitions between award presentations and other segments of the event.
  • Facilitate event flow by keeping the program on schedule while remaining flexible to any changes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing guest inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor to ensure a welcoming environment for all guests.
  • Assist with logistical arrangements such as seating plans and audiovisual coordination as necessary.
