Description Event Hosts directly report to either the General Manager (GM) or Group Coordinator (GC), depending on the location. Event Hosts will be hired to work both Birthday Parties and Group Events, providing supervision of participants, top-rope belaying and instruction, facilitation of games, and positive customer interactions. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Birthday Parties Set-up and clean-up birthday party area/supplies Supervise and engage with groups of 10-25 (ages 3+) Top-rope belaying for participants Facilitate games and interactive activities Ensure participants’ safety by enforcing Momentum policies in a friendly and professional manner Interact with parents and guests to provide excellent customer service Assess participants' skill levels and provide appropriate support Ensure climbers use rental or personal gear in accordance with gym policies and manufacturer specifications Group Events Supervise and engage with both youth and adult participants based on the booking Facilitate group climbing experiences based on the selected option: Bouldering Only: Ensure safety, provide guidance on proper bouldering techniques, and supervise participants Belay Instruction: Teach proper belaying techniques to participants, ensuring they can belay safely and confidently Pro Belay: Belay participants safely and efficiently, maintaining proper safety protocols Maintain a working knowledge of gym programs and offerings to provide accurate information Ensure participants are using proper equipment and following Momentum's climbing safety procedures Requirements At least 2 years of climbing experience with a strong enthusiasm for climbing Comfortable working with children ages 3-18 Previous experience in coaching, programming, or facilitation is a plus, but not required Ability to prioritize the needs of participants and create a safe, fun environment Ability to maintain professional conduct while engaging with children, parents, and other staff members Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to empathize and communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff Environmental and Physical Demands Able to work in a loud, high-energy environment on a regular basis Comfortable speaking in front of and providing instruction to large groups Comfortable working at height and moving up and down a climbing wall Must be able to climb confidently and safely to heights to perform rescues Able to stand, walk, and work on unstable and uneven surfaces for long periods Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis Hours and Availability Part-time, 3-20 hours per week Weekday availability for Groups preferred Weekend availability for Birthday Parties and Groups required COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS $15.00/hour Free membership at all Momentum Climbing locations One “buddy pass” each time you use Momentum’s facilities Discounts on Momentum instruction and programs Access to pro-deals through our outdoor industry partners after 90 days of employment Opportunity to develop and improve teaching and facilitation skills
