We are seeking a creative, organised and community-focused Event Officer to join our Events & Festivals team. In this dynamic role, you will support the assessment and consultation process relating to event permits applications. You will help plan and deliver a diverse calendar of events that celebrate Hume’s vibrant communities, foster inclusion, and activate public spaces across the municipality. What you’ll be doing: Providing administration and support for event permit application assessment and consultation process and activities. Providing advice and support across the organisation to ensure that Council run events and activities are appropriate, relevant and targeted, and achieve the strategic objectives of Hume City Council (HCC). Contributing and supporting with the administration and support of Council-led festivals, activations, internal and external applications for community events, in a streamlined and collaborative manner, Collaborating with the Senior Events and Festival Officer and Coordinator, Events & Festivals and other team members in event planning, programming, supplier and performer engagement, event delivery, logistics and post-event evaluation. Assist with community-managed events as required including assisting with the assessment and processing of external event permit applications. Assist in the planning, development and implementation of Council events. Contribute to and support the diverse range of events to meet community and organisational requirements. Provide administrative support for Council led events and approved external community led events and activities. Establish and maintain databases and mailing lists of relevant organisations and contacts. Purchase goods and services for the department, including creating purchase orders and processing invoices for payment. Provide consistent and quality customer service to all internal and external stakeholders. Display initiative when dealing with customers, contractors and members of the public. The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role: Demonstrated relevant experience in organising and conducting corporate and community events and functions. Experience in or a good understanding of Local Government processes and community consultation. Knowledge of market research techniques and appropriate methods of analysis. Relevant experience in planning, co-ordinating, marketing and promoting events/festivals and corporate functions. Demonstrated ability to promote, and "sell" new ideas to others. Flexibility, forward thinking and ability to develop innovative programs and projects. Ability to empathise with the needs of diverse communities. Sound experience with Occupational health and Safety (including risk management procedures) relating to event coordination. Strong customer service and communication capabilities, as well as demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with keyinternal and external stakeholders. Required Certifications & Qualifications Relevant qualifications in events management, marketing or a related discipline with experience in leisure, event management, or relevant experience in events management with lesser formal qualifications Current driver's licence.
