Description Tacoma Arts Live is a 501(c)(3) non-profit 45 year-old arts organization that is committed to producing the highest quality programs and to the belief that our ability to contribute to excellence in the arts depends on building a community whose members come from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and life experiences. We are seeking Event Staff, and encourage qualified individuals who bring diverse perspectives to the workplace to apply! Position: Event Staff Event Staff will be responsible for the efficient coordination and execution of event operations and volunteer management. Event Staff will do so in cooperation with multiple departments including maintenance, stage & production, and box office, while delivering the highest level of customer service and audience experience. Depending on the shift assigned, Event Staff duties may include providing food and beverage sales and services, managing merchandise sales, as well as assisting in the coordination of event set-ups and teardowns. This is a part-time position and will typically be 10-20 hours per week. Number of shifts can vary depending on the season and number of scheduled events. Events are typically scheduled on evenings and weekends, with most shifts occurring Thursday – Sunday, 10am – 11pm. Event Staff are eligible for overtime if working more than 40 hours in a work week of Monday – Sunday and employees accrue sick leave under the Washington State Paid Sick Leave Law. Pay rate: $20 - $21 per hour Requirements RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as the lead event staff for Tacoma Arts Live events held either in the Tacoma Armory or offsite. Coordinate with and assist the Operations Team and other day-of Event Team members (Concessions Leads, Stage Crew Members, Volunteer Manager, and Box Office and Marketing staff) on the successful execution of all day-of tasks and details for assigned events. Greet Facility users (patrons, presenters, and/or artists) in a friendly manner, accommodate their needs, and handle inquiries, requests and dispute resolution. Manage and lead volunteers during assigned Tacoma Arts Live events. Serve as the liaison between Tacoma Arts Live staff and Volunteers on the day of the event. Work independently as opening/ closing person in charge, including set-up and teardown of event spaces as well as closing file paperwork, such as house counts, staff hours, and communication of cleaning and security needs. Observe and enforce all Front of House policies and safety regulations. Be accountable for concessions area including setup and take down of concessions stations, stocking area, operating point of sale, etc when needed. Serve alcoholic beverages to patrons according to Washington State Liquor & Cannabis Control Board policies when needed. Attend all Staff, Front of House, and other Event-related meetings and trainings when required or necessary. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 21 or older. Have a current WA State Food Handler’s Card, WA State Class 12 alcohol server permit, and CPR certification card, OR be able to obtain them. Familiar with point-of-sale systems such as square preferred Have at least one year of event management and supervisory experience. Have excellent customer service skills. Have strong written and verbal communication skills. Be able to handle extended periods of standing, walking, bending and kneeling, as well as lift up to 50 lbs. Be able to work weekends, evenings, and on an on-call basis. Be professional, organized and enjoy working with the public and as part of a team.
