Position Summary:
This part-time Event Supervisor, Security position provides managerial assistance and essential support for PPG Paints Arena events including hockey games, concerts, family shows, etc. Specifically, an Event Staff Supervisor assists in the supervision of ushers, event security, ticket takers, and other event staff members.
This role pays an hourly rate of $21.29

As a leading entertainment venue, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania, and home to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.
Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises Security Guards at Employee Entrance and is responsible for dispatch calls in the Command Post for a given event
  • Serves as a point-of-contact for employees who seek assistance relating to guest service challenges, housekeeping matters, security concerns, etc.
  • Provides solutions to aforementioned issues by communicating with guests, management, department leads, and/or command center
  • Assists in sustaining PPG Paints Arena security initiative by supporting proper employee behaviors, properly addressing any failures and reporting issues to management
  • Encourages development of employees’ security skills and assists with incentive program
  • Provides clear, concise, and timely communication of detailed event requirements to event staff
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely radio communication when handling guest incidents or complaints
  • Is proactive in seeking out ways to improve service, employee procedures, etc.
  • Understands emergency response plan and can help facilitate process with assigned employees
  • Monitors functioning of elevators, escalators, etc. and contacts management/service personnel in the event of any problems involving maintenance or rider issues.
  • Record pertinent post-event notes for managerial review
  • Be willing to provide other managerial assistance and support when requested

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred
  • 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of the principles of facility management, services, and equipment for a similar facility
  • Must agree to be trained in and willing to help sustain PPG Paints Arena’s guest service and security principles

Skills/Aptitudes

  • Exudes exceptional guest service qualities, leadership skills, and professionalism
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Utilizes excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize multiple projects and find solutions to issues
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and to interact with all levels of staff including management
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays

Computer Skills
In order to perform this job successfully, an individual should understand how to use a computer and/or iPad and two-way radio.
