The New River Valley Home Builders Association, Inc. (NRVHBA) is a professional trade association affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Home Builders Association of Virginia (HBAV). Since 1976, it has been dedicated to being the respected voice of Southwest Virginia’s residential and commercial building industry.
The mission of the NRVHBA is to serve the building community by advocating for the construction industry, educating, supporting, promoting our members, and giving back to the New River Valley. Our Association is governed by a board of directors and an executive committee representative of our region’s builder and associate membership.

The New River Valley Home Builders Association, Inc. (NRVHBA) seeks a full-time events and marketing coordinator who will work 40 hours a week. The ideal candidate will be ambitious and help the Executive Officer achieve the association’s strategic goals and objectives. The events and marketing coordinator will often work alongside the executive officer in the association office and at off-site events.

Performance Objectives are:

  • Plan and Deliver Successful Events

Ensure smooth coordination and execution of signature association events — including the Annual Home Expo, Touch-a-Truck, and member networking/education events — from concept to post-event evaluation, meeting established deadlines and quality standards.

  • Support and Liaise with Committees

Serving as the primary staff liaison to assigned committees, facilitating meetings, sharing timely updates, and ensuring the implementation of committee initiatives effectively.

  • Manage Event Budgets Efficiently

Track expenses against budget for all assigned projects, making cost-effective decisions without compromising event quality.

  • Coordinate Vendor Partnerships

Source, secure, and oversee vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of services and supplies in line with event requirements.

  • Drive Innovation in Programming

Collaborate with the Executive Officer to develop and launch new event concepts, programs, and member services that increase engagement and participation.

  • Grow Sponsorships & Advertising Revenue

Build and maintain strong relationships with potential sponsors and advertisers, achieving set targets for event and publication partnerships.

  • Create High-Quality Marketing Materials

Produce engaging print and digital membership materials that effectively communicate programs, benefits, and opportunities to members and the public.

  • Enhance Marketing Reach & Engagement

Develop and execute promotional strategies (social media, email, print) to increase attendance, visibility, and brand recognition for association events.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Experience in event planning and execution ( 1 year or more required)
  • Experience in designing marketing materials such as flyers, ads, newsletters, etc. (at least 1 year or more required – through Canva or graphic design software)
  • Experience in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop (1 year or more required)
  • Experience in Social Media Marketing (1 year or more required)
  • Experience and Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & 1 year or more required)
  • Experience in WordPress is preferred, with at least one year of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, event planning, or related field - preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and adjust quickly to new or changing assignments
  • Detail-oriented, process and systems-focused, and performance-based/results driven team player
  • Self-starter who can work independently while managing the priorities of the Executive Officer

  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Paychecks are sent twice a month on the 16th and the end of the month

Job Type: Full-time
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break, occasional evenings and weekends (40 hours per week).
Hours may vary slightly due to events or training, but are not to exceed 40 hours
each week.
Pay:
$40,000 – $43,000 based on experience
