We’re looking for someone with a knack for planning innovative and engaging experiences for our students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury (UC). In addition to working across these events, this role will also be responsible for the delivery of our International Student event portfolio. If you are ready to join our team of Event Coordinators and help deliver a calendar of epic events for UC Students, we want to hear from you! About You You may be an experienced event professional, or you may have only recently graduated with a relevant degree – what is important to us is that you are passionate about all aspects of events and the student experience. You will oversee multiple student focussed events from original concept to execution. You will work through the planning process, create run sheets, completing post event evaluations and more. An understanding of the events industry and its’ processes would be advantageous. You need to enjoy collaborating, be comfortable in a high-pace environment, be organised, and have excellent communication skills. Due to the nature of the role and the organisation, an affinity for and understanding of students, particularly international students, is important. Important Skills & Qualifications A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g. event management, marketing, tourism, hospitality, communications) 2+ years industry experience in planning and delivering successful events would be advantageous, but not essential. Has a particular empathy, sensitivity and appreciation for students and the diverse ethnic, socio-economic, genders of the student body, staff and clients A good understanding of what it means to work in a bi-culturally competent environment, or the openness to learn and grow in this space Current and full drivers’ licence A creative, enquiring mind and the ability to “think outside the box” Ability to work in a team and great sense of humour About UCSA Nau Mai Ki Te Rōpū Akonga ō Te Whare Wānanga ō Waitaha Welcome to The University of Canterbury Students’ Association (UCSA) Established in 1894, the UCSA is a registered not-for-profit organisation that supports UC students to succeed and belong.
