Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as ‘The Food Bowl of Australia’ as around 25% of the total value of Victoria’s agricultural production is generated in this area.
Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

JOIN OUR MAJOR EVENTS TEAM!

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced administrator to support our vibrant Major Events team. This role provides high-quality customer service, booking advice, and general administration across a diverse range of venues, including the Shepparton Showgrounds, Tatura Park Equestrian and Events Centre, and Victoria Park Lake event spaces.

Responsibilities

REPORTING TO THE COORDINATOR – EVENT VENUES AND BUSINESS EVENTS, YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service and information to current and prospective clients and the community regarding Council’s event venues.
  • Managing the booking system for event venues, including liaising with hirers about venue availability, fees and charges, and hire terms and conditions as well as managing other event booking services such as Town Entry Signage, Town Entry Banner Flag Program.
  • Preparing and distributing booking documentation such as Hire Agreements, Event Confirmations, and financial paperwork.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BRING:

  • Proven experience in a general administrative role.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities effectively.
  • High-level proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and a willingness to learn new software.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering quality services.
    Experience in bookings and events is highly desirable, but we welcome applicants who are passionate about community engagement and possess strong organisational and communication skills.
