EVENTS MANAGER

Salary Range: $63,000–$70,000

The Corning Gaffer District is seeking an experienced, highly organized and detail-oriented Events Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of our district sponsored events.
The Corning Gaffer District is the heart of a dynamic, historic downtown that thrives on collaboration and community spirit. As Events Manager, you’ll play a central role in shaping experiences that bring residents and visitors together while supporting local businesses.
This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Executive Director. The Events Manager will be responsible for ensuring all events are conducted in a professional manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in event management, hospitality, marketing, public administration, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience in planning and managing events.
  • Knowledge of New York State Mass Gathering requirements and related compliance standards.
  • Strong organizational, budgeting, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience working across diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff, contractors, and volunteers effectively.
  • Proven capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to professionalism, attention to detail, and collaborative teamwork.

PHYSICAL & SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the event schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and execute a comprehensive schedule of district-sponsored events, including festivals, seasonal programs, and special initiatives.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, contracts, and timelines in coordination with the Executive Director.
  • Coordinate all logistics and ensure all events meet regulatory requirements, including securing necessary state and local permits, approvals, and safety standards are met for each event. Open communication with Gaffer District businesses is a must.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff, event employees, contractors, and volunteers pre, post and during all events.
  • Maintain organized event records, inventories, and equipment to support efficient event operations.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to measure success, identify improvements, and find new opportunities.
