We operate two (2) adjoining hotel properties in Richmond Hill, conveniently located at Highway 7 and Leslie Street, just west of Highway 404 and just north of Highway 407. We have 30.000 sq feet renovated banquet/conference space over two (2) levels, along with two (2) executive boardrooms on the 9thfloor of the hotel. Our largest room is the renovated 10,000 sq. foot Grand York Ballroom.

We are currently recruiting for am Events Planning Manager for a one (1) year Maternity Leave fixed term contract position with responsibility for booking, liaising and finalizing banquet/meeting functions, inclusive of but not limited to weddings, holiday parties, corporate dinner meetings, corporate functions, while maintaining a calm and professional environment at all times.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Evaluate and qualify new and existing clients
-Create and source new business opportunities
-Attend trade/consumer shows
-Create and implement mailings and e-marketing programs
-Planning and implementing sales efforts for social and corporate events
-Book and finalize events
-create BEO’s and detailed contracts
-Acts as event liaison between clients and operations teams
-Build relationships with ongoing clients, both internal & external
-Conduct client meetings and follow-up
-Conduct sites
-Participates in Lobby Ambassador program schedule
-Participates in Corporate Client Cocktail Reception hosting schedule
-Other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Catering and/or General Manager
Job Requirements:
-prior experience with CI/TY an asset
-Must have a minimum of 3-4 years progressive catering/sales and/or event planning experience in a full service hotel environment
-Must have experience with wedding sales experience
-Must have a strong understanding of food and menu creation
-Must have a post secondary degree/diploma in hotel/hospitality management from a recognized institution and/or WPICC certified
-Must have strong negotiation and closing skills
-Must have strong networking skills
-Must have inside and outside sales experience, along with ability to upsell
-Must be customer service and detail oriented
-Must have exceptional time management skills, with ability to prioritize
-Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Must have the ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests and employees
-Must have the ability to read and write English
-Additional languages an asset
-Must have strong organizational and problem solving skills
-Must have the ability to multi-task
-Must be computer literate with MS office applications -Must be self-motivated
-Must be flexible with shift availability (Monday to Sunday)
-Must be comfortable working with all types of people - from brides & grooms, mother of bride, to Fortune 500 executives
