This is where you come in As Development Manager, you’ll lead 2–3 squads of engineers, creating the environment where high-performing teams thrive. You’re technically fluent, but your biggest impact comes from building strong culture, clear ways of working, and teams that do their best work together. You’ll coach and mentor engineers at all stages of their careers, supporting their growth while enabling product teams to deliver practical, high-value solutions. At the same time, you’ll help evolve Timely’s platform in a way that’s scalable, sustainable, and built for the long term. This role blends people leadership with technical credibility, requiring sound judgment and a proven ability to guide teams through clear, timely, and strategic decision-making. (some) of what you'll do Lead and coach remote-first engineering teams, fostering strong culture, performance, and continuous growth. Support delivery of value-driven work by partnering with Product to refine backlogs and enable iterative delivery. Ensure team alignment to agreed OKRs, KPIs, security, and engineering standards. Create clear communication around goals, progress, risks, and outcomes. Improve team ceremonies, processes, and ways of working to drive effective delivery. Support technical direction alongside senior engineers and help shape work entering the backlog. Collaborate with Technology leaders to align team growth with wider business objectives. Enable cross-team coordination and coach engineers to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders. Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and ongoing capability development. Champion a culture of transparency, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across Timely engineering teams. What you'll bring Proven experience leading software engineering teams. Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and team management. Solid software engineering background with the ability to engage in technical and architectural discussions. Experience improving software delivery practices, such as code quality, testing, CI/CD and observability. Strong empathy for both engineering and business challenges. Growth mindset and thirst to improve yourself. Demonstrable strong collaboration skills across product and engineering. Demonstrable strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to both translate technical concepts to less technical audiences where required as well as manage expectations of different stakeholders.
