Description POSITION TITLE: Environmental Services Aide DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services EMPLOYEE REPORTS TO: EVS Supervisor SUPERVISES: N/A FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Per Diem POSITION SUMMARY Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, clinics, surgery rooms, and other assigned buildings/areas of the hospital. Cleans apartments and clinics off hospital premises. Requirements POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Prefer high school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Possess the ability to understand the English language. Prefer valid California Driver’s License. Experience in a housekeeper/cleaner capacity preferred DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Cleans cubical curtains, windows, beds, wall, ceiling, woodwork, trim, floor, sink, counter, pipes, furniture, and fixtures. Ensures blood is cleaned from all surfaces using the proper chemicals. Replaces all paper goods, lining, and light vents. Empties trash to trash cart, then takes out to trash bins. Empties sharps containers when 2/3 full. Following discharge, in addition to the above duties, wipes down bed and mattress on both sides with a damp cloth. Makes up bed with clean linens. Vacuums carpeting, moving furniture. Changes into scrubs, including shoe covers, caps, and mask and Cleans between surgical cases. At the end of the shift, after all scheduled surgeries are completed, cleans and disinfects the area and leaves ready to next use. Collects trash, mops surgery floor, discards dirty linen in yellow plastic bag. Scrubs sinks. Empties large trash cans in utility room. Washes walls. Mops hallways, cleans bathrooms, restocks supplies. Cleans vents and all equipment in surgery. Cleans lights and windows. Remakes surgery beds. Cleans doctors’ and nurses’ dressing rooms. Cleans shower hopper. Moves all furniture. Washes surgery walls on a daily basis using proper disinfectant. Maintains a clean, sanitary, orderly building. Cleans doctor’s sleep rooms, supplies fresh linen, disinfects. When doctor leaves, makes bed with fresh linen and cleans room. Dusts; mops or vacuums floor; washes windows, window sills, sinks, bathroom, fixtures, phones, chairs, T.V. and water fountains. Replaces paper goods. Waxes floors as needed. Dumps trash and hoppers. Cleans treatment room, Purchasing, nuclear medicine, Pharmacy, Respiratory Care, Pulmonary Function, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Laboratory, Central Supply, Emergency Room, hallways, bathrooms, offices. Changes cubical curtains in Radiology and Emergency Room.
Responsibilities
