JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a motivated, empathetic, and resilient Ex-Offender Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide targeted support to individuals with offending histories, helping them to successfully reintegrate into the community and sustain their supported housing tenancy. You will play a key role in developing personalised support plans, addressing barriers such as criminal history, substance misuse, and mental health challenges, while empowering individuals to build independence and move towards stable, long-term housing and employment opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working with ex-offenders, supported housing, or vulnerable adults is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with individuals who may face stigma or barriers.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by people with offending histories, including social exclusion and relapse risks.
  • Ability to drive with a valid driving licence.
  • Experience in creating and delivering support or care plans.
  • Confident IT skills for case recording and reporting.
  • Resilient, compassionate, and committed to reducing reoffending and supporting rehabilitation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to ex-offenders, helping them manage their tenancy and daily responsibilities.
  • Assist individuals in accessing specialist services related to mental health, substance misuse recovery, rehabilitation, and reducing reoffending.
  • Work in partnership with probation services, housing providers, and other professionals to ensure a joined-up approach to support.
  • Encourage and motivate service users to maintain good hygiene, develop life skills, and integrate positively within their communities.
  • Carry out home visits and outreach support as required.
  • Maintain clear, accurate records of support provided, progress made, and risks identified.
  • Support service users to access education, training, employment, and benefit entitlements.
  • Help manage conflicts, resolve disputes, and address tenancy or safety concerns.
  • Use IT systems effectively for documentation, communication, and monitoring outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and find the best solutions to challenges faced by service users.
