JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible to: Exams Officer, Head of Academic Programme
Hours of Work: Start time during mock exams is usually 8am, start time during summer GCSE / A Level exams may be from 7:45am. Invigilator finish time may be anywhere between 3pm / 5pm, depending on the length of the exam and the needs of the school. Mock exams take place throughout the year, with formal exams mainly taking place in May / June. It is expected that invigilators will be available for mocks in December / January/ February/ March / April as well formal exams in May / June.
Part time applications are welcome.
Salary: £14.09 per hour including Holiday Pay as Standard Invigilator or £15.45 per hour including holiday pay asLead Invigilator
TO ASSIST EXAMS OFFICER AND OTHER EXAMINATIONS STAFF WITH OTHER EXAMINATION PROCESSES. THIS ACTIVITY MAY INCLUDE:
· Assisting with the packing of examination papers, stationery (sometimes heavy) and equipment prior to the examinations and the delivery to and from venues as appropriate;
· Occasionally there may be a requirement to move desks in classrooms.
· Reading and/or scribing (writing or typing) for students with exam access arrangements, (after appropriate training). For recruitment in August / September 2025 please note we are particularly looking for Invigilators who are keen to act as Scribes (typing / writing depending on the exam).
SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOL
· Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person;
· Be aware of and support difference and ensure students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop;
· Contribute to the overall ethos / work / aims of the school;
· Appreciate and support the role of other professionals;
· Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required. It is a JCQ requirement to complete comprehensive Invigilator training, as directed by the Exams Officer;
· Responsible for Health & Safety management in own area;
· Ensure the effective implementation of school policies with particular regard to safeguarding;
· Carry out other duties that may reasonably be required by the Exams Officer.
