Exceptional Children's Teacher – Middle School Inclusion/Resource Davidson Charter Academy is a K-8 public charter school. We are seeking a dedicated and energetic special education teacher to join our team. Our teachers act as positive role models and provide the highest quality of education. Candidates must: Demonstrate an ability to form and maintain positive, nurturing relationships with students by building trust and supporting competencies through interest and active engagement Demonstrate an understanding of child development relevant to the age group of the students Work as part of a team to identify strategies to meet student needs. Work collaboratively with school personnel and be able to communicate effectively Design and implement an appropriate curriculum for all content areas for special education students while providing necessary accommodations and modifications to the curriculum. Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners. Assess student’s performance levels, learning styles, strengths and weaknesses, and develop appropriate goals and objectives. Measure and evaluate student progress. Participate in the IEP process. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will Hold a NC Teaching License in Exceptional Children (EC) Have a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Special Education Have teaching experience to include working with children with special needs Be a strong classroom manager. Be committed to meeting the needs of a diverse student population. Have a track record of being a community minded team player. Excellent time-management skills and ability to work independently. Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards Salary & Benefits: Salary based on the NC Certified Teacher Salary Schedule, years of experience, and licensure status Full-Time 10-Month Position Additional 3% Supplement (paid in December and June) Up to 6% Employer 403(b) Contribution Match 10 PTO days per year (unused PTO rolls over until maximum accrual is reached) Paid Holidays Employee’s Medical Insurance paid up to $554.57/monthly Employer-funded Long-Term & Short-Term Disability Coverage All teachers at DCA are on one year contracts. Contract renewal is contingent upon successful performance, completion of duties and expectations, as well as funding.
Responsibilities
The teacher will design and implement a modified curriculum for special education students while providing necessary accommodations. They are responsible for assessing student performance, developing goals, and participating in the IEP process.
