About Us | Mō mātou  The Department of Internal Affairs provides administrative assistance to Public and Government Inquiries. These Inquiries can inquire into any matter of public importance or concern to the Government of the day. These could include Royal Commissions, which are appointed by and report to the Governor-General or Government Inquiries which are appointed by and report to a Minister.  Both types of Inquiry have the same legal powers and are supported by Inquiry teams made up of subject matter experts and highly experienced support specialists.   The role | Te tūnga  This exciting new fixed term assignment (through to the end of January 2027) is responsible for providing exceptional Executive Secretarial and Board Secretariat support to Members and the Inquiry Leadership team.  We require a pragmatic and sharp thinker who can see the big picture, connect information quickly, exercise sound judgment in fast-moving situations, and ensure that the Members and Inquiry Leadership team are well-informed and prepared for their planning, decision making and other commitments.   You will be a confident communicator with the ability to engage with a wide range of senior leaders, other agencies and organisations across the country. Highly organised you will have the ability to anticipate and effectively manage secretariat support while being aware of key priorities and raising risks as they arise.  What you bring | Nōu te rourou  * Proven success providing Executive Assistant support to Senior Leaders preferably within the public sector.  * Sound knowledge and experience with the application of governance frameworks and risk and interest registers. * Ability to prioritise workloads and negotiate deadlines in the face of competing demands.  * Exceptional relationship-building skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. * Experience in planning, project oversight, and risk management. * Excellent writing and communication skills, having had experience producing board papers, agenda’s, minutes and action tracking. * Genuine interest in developing a deeper understanding of the Inquiry responsibilities and activities.
