Primary objective
To provide high-level executive administrative and secretarial support to the Commander, Northern Command and other
members of the Northern Command Management Team.
Context Statement
Northern Command is responsible for the provision of policing services to approximately one half of the Northern Territory.
This includes Katherine Division, Northern Division and Central Division.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high-level confidential and professional administrative and secretarial service to the Commander, Northern
Command and other members of the Northern Command Management Team.
2. Manage concurrent email inboxes and calendars to coordinate meetings and scheduling for senior executive members.
3. Accurate and timely management of all executive unit records and information using Content Manager and following up
on response deadlines as necessary.
4. Undertake minor research for the Commander and Management Team, as required.
5. Organisation and preparation of functions.
6. Act as Minute Secretary, including arranging meetings and minute taking.
7. Work with other administrative support staff to ensure compliance with a range of administrative procedures and
practice requirements.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive experience in providing administrative support at an executive level including diary management, report
compilation and minute taking.
2. High-level proficiency in the use of a wide range of computer software packages and applications including word
processing, spreadsheets, databases and mainframe applications.
3. Well-developed organisational skills including ability to effectively manage a range of tasks with different and changing
priorities and to work under pressure with limited supervision.
4. Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with a wide range of clients with confidence and
professionalism.
5. Proven ability to work as part of a team and work flexible or extended hours, with minimal supervision, when required.
6. High-level data entry skills with attention to detail.
Desirable
1. An understanding of the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Service principle functions.
2. Hold a current NT Driver’s Licence or ability to obtain
