The Executive Assistant to Mayor and Council will ensure the dignity, respect, order and confidentiality of the office of the Mayor and Council are maintained, while providing professional business and administrative services that promote and represent the City and Office of Mayor and Council. This is an Auxiliary, on-call opportunity.
This position will provide frontline contact and liaison for Mayor and Council with staff and external groups, escalating issues as needed. The Executive Assistant will work with City departments to coordinate and attend events and civic functions, ensuring protocols and agendas are appropriate and Mayor and Council are informed and prepared. Project work that furthers the initiatives of Mayor and Council will also be required.
This position will provide executive / administrative support to Mayor and Council in the following areas: schedule events; prepare itineraries and background information; calendar entries; prepare correspondence and reports; review, prioritize and action incoming mail; and develop the budget and reconcile expense reports.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school graduation plus additional business, advanced clerical and office administration courses, supplemented by intermediate level computer programs. Business writing courses are strongly recommended. Local Government Management courses would be beneficial.
  • Minimum five years of extensive, high level office administration experience
  • Tact and diplomacy in handling sensitive issues
  • Experience handling senior levels of government, businesses, residents, local associations and related issues
  • Diverse knowledge of the Lower Mainland and all levels of government
