EDUCATION:

University degree, preferably in a business-related or education field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years’ related experience providing a full range of executive support to a senior leader or administrator in a complex institutional environment. Experience within an academic environment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

The office of Deputy Provost Markham will be located at the Markham Campus (MC). The MC will be urban, connected and integrated with local and global communities. Academic programs and research will revolve around core themes of technology and entrepreneurship, as applied in different contexts and professional fields. Students will acquire knowledge and skills to contribute to a rapidly changing economy and society through innovative programs and research opportunities where they interact directly with employers and community partners. Located in one of the fastest growing and most diverse regions of Ontario and Canada, this Campus of York University will specialize in flexible learning formats to serve a diverse population of students, including young adults, as well as mature and mid-career learners, newcomers to Canada and workers impacted by technological change. MC will support York’s efforts to enhance research excellence and the application of our work through an expanding innovation hub.
Reporting to the Deputy Provost Markham, the Executive Assistant provides efficient, professional, and confidential administrative support. Duties are broad, varied and often of a confidential nature. Daily activities involve interaction with staff, faculty and high-level internal and external contacts and officials, with frequent exposure to sensitive information requiring considerable tact, discretion, and judgment. In addition, the Executive Assistant will work with the MC team as a front-line ambassador to help promote the MC and provide general information on York University led initiatives, programs, and partnerships. This position is responsible for complex calendar management and coordination of a variety of administrative activities.
