We are looking for a hands on Executive Chef who can manage our kitchen (total of 10 staff, kitchen creates prepared, not restaurant, food), schedule personnel and train them in the preparation, cooking and presentation of food. It would also include the day-to-day operations, inventory control, waste control, ordering and ensuring the highest quality best product for our customers. Develop, and document, recipes that meet our customers’ desires for a high end grocery store in Toronto. The candidate would monitor quality and sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow all standards and regulations. You would be responsible for maintaining the cleaning schedule for kitchen floors, walls, equipment etc. as well as ensure the equipment is properly maintained.
The Candidate must have a formal culinary education with 5 years as a cook and 2 to 3 years working as an Executive Soux Chef or Executive Chef. You must have the ability to cook prepared meals according to detailed specifications and to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong and effective leadership skills are a must, you should be comfortable with all levels of employees and have the ability to drive positive change. Must have good computer skills and be able to communicate well. Although the main role would revolve around the kitchen, you would be interacting closely with other departments inside the store so communication is vital.
Candidate will work with management to meet financial objectives, plan new offerings, and assist in the implementation of exciting innovative ideas.
Environment Requirements
Regularly stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during 8+ hour shifts. Must be able to lift, push, pull and move product, equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of twenty-five pounds.
