CHEF POSITION

At LOCAL 1794, we are busy gastropub that takes pride in a tasteful and creative menu that has guests coming back regularly. Our team is all about ensuring that every guest leaves happy every time and has the best experience during their visit. We are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Chef who is passionate about culinary arts who can lead a team to fulfill that vision.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a natural leader who is up to date of current culinary trends. The Chef will be responsible for assigning work in the kitchen, preparing meals for our diners, interviewing and training staff, kitchen inventory management and partnering with the Sous Chef to come up with delectable new dishes to add to our growing menu.

The Chef will be accountable for leading the team in the kitchen in a high volume location.
Job Requirements:
Associate Degree in Culinary Arts required (Bachelor’s preferred)
3+ years’ experience as a Chef in a full-service restaurant
2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role
Excellent communication and organization skills
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Dedicated to food quality and control
Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards
Demonstrate ability to attract and retain excellent performers and to develop high performing teams
Chef Responsibilities
Manage relationships with distributors and resolve issues with vendors promptly
Establish and follow the budget
Ensure safety and sanitation practices in the kitchen
Manage kitchen staff and delegate tasks related to meal prep, cooking and delivering food to guests in a timely fashion
Maintain the schedule for kitchen staff
Monitor food and labor costs
Keep up with industry trends and create new recipes in collaboration with the Sous Chef
Create weekly specials to menu
