JRoss Recruiters is currently engaged in an exciting search for the Executive Chef to join a refined and romantic Italian dining establishment nestled in the heart of downtown Vancouver’s vibrant Yaletown district.
This venue blends traditional Italian heritage with modern elegance. Sitting in a beautifully restored historic brick building, it offers a warm, casual atmosphere with upscale accents—from colorful ceiling murals inspired by the Italian Renaissance to an inviting wine-focused bar and thoughtfully curated private dining spaces.
Whether you’re passionate about serving perfectly paired wines or delivering memorable dining experiences, the opportunity to deliver authentic Italian hospitality awaits. The Chef can run features daily, and minor menu changes are made regularly. This business is open for 5 dinners and 2 lunches a week, which offers a great work-life balance. The yearly compensation plus tips is over $100K.

DESCRIPTION

• Demonstrate strong expertise in authentic Italian cuisine, with experience in both approachable and fine dining menu styles.
• Develop and execute inspired Italian dishes, with a focus on flavor, presentation, and portion consistency.
• Ensure all menu items are prepared to the highest standard and delivered in a timely manner.
• Maintain operational excellence in daily food preparation and kitchen execution.
• Collaborate on seasonal menus, special features, and events to help market and promote the restaurant, including engaging with guests in the dining room.
• Lead the hiring, training, and management of a high-performing kitchen team.
• Drive financial performance by achieving targets in sales, labor cost, food cost, and inventory management.
• Work closely with the General Manager and Senior Management to align culinary operations with overall business goals.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience in Italian cuisine; deep understanding of traditional and contemporary Italian cooking techniques.
• Culinary certification or equivalent professional training.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in an executive kitchen leadership role within an upscale casual or fine dining environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Flexible availability, including the ability to work opening and closing shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Must be currently based in Vancouver.
