We’re searching for a passionate, persuasive and hands-on Executive Creative Director with razor-sharp instincts for identifying breakthrough concepts. We want someone who doesn’t just immerse themselves in culture, they can build a great creative culture across the business. You’ll need to deliver world-class creative from strategy through concept to presentation for our international client roster. And ideally a love of what you do, a passion for insight-driven ideas, modern tech & tools and a knack for telling a good story.

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience working as a Creative Director within an integrated marketing, creative, advertising, or public relations agency setting.
  • Previous experience and demonstrations of transforming strategic opportunities and briefs into best-in-class creative, that are driven by technology and innovation.
  • Hold a strong understanding of earned media with previous exposure to use of digital platforms.
  • A proactive approach to ideas – you make things happen and can see opportunity beyond the brief.
  • Exceptional leadership experience, working with people to grow and capture the skills, power and strength of the creative team talent.
  • Ability to go beyond the job description when and where required, holding a team mentality.
  • Proven experience of successfully managing and influencing senior stakeholder relationships, with previous experience across Sports & Entertainment brands and related commercial partnerships.
  • Full understanding of production and storytelling through multiple channels, including digital, social, copy, art direction, video production and technology.
  • Excellent presenting skills: articulate, passionate, authoritative, charming, capable of instilling confidence.
  • A network of senior client-side contacts across the marketing and innovation landscape.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Octagon is looking for an Executive Creative Director to help us build on the momentum we have already created in Australia, driving growth by producing creatively ambitious, future-facing work that is driven by innovative point of view, as we continue to be the leading Creative Agency in Sports and Entertainment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creativity – Foster a culture of creative innovation. Leading concept, creative development, presentation of ideas and in delivering innovative projects from brief to production.
  • Leadership – Inspire and lead a team of Art & Copywriters, Designers and Producers, mentoring and guiding them in development of their creative thinking, strategies, processes and execution.
  • Client Management - Partner with the heads of major clients and sister IPG agency leads to grow and strengthen client relationships. Lead execution of concept and creative development with major clients across the network on behalf of Octagon.
  • New Business - Creatively oversee and seek out new and organic business opportunities, leading the execution of concept and creative development with major clients.
  • Commercial acumen – Support the commercialisation of creative work and showcase its true value, ensuring YoY growth in line with wider business targets and to continue to develop creative practice.
  • Innovation - Responsible for high quality, creativity, and innovation across all platforms, with keen interest in and understanding of creative uses of technology.
  • Industry Knowledge and Expertise - Awareness of Global and Local awards and the standards of work required. The ability to provide thought leadership inside and outside of the organisation.
  • Culture – Be an active contributor to our agency culture, operations, and community, including fostering a culture of creative thinking across all staff in the Australian business.
