Position Summary
Big Ideas, Inc. is seeking a visionary and results-driven Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and impact. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED serves as the chief operating leader, responsible for advancing the mission through strategic leadership, operational excellence, and community engagement. This role oversees staff, programs, and daily operations while playing a pivotal role in fundraising, partnership development, and organizational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership & Strategy
Lead the execution of Big Ideas’ strategic plan in alignment with Board-approved goals.
Ensure effective delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of programs and services.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
Serve as the public face of the organization, building visibility and strategic partnerships.
Operations & Program Management
Oversee daily operations, including HR, program implementation, and administrative systems.
Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team; provide coaching and leadership development.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Implement systems to track performance and measure impact.
Financial Management
Develop and manage the annual operating budget in collaboration with the finance team.
Maintain fiscal integrity through sound financial practices and transparent reporting.
Monitor financial performance and recommend adjustments to ensure long-term sustainability.
Fund Development & External Relations
Execute fundraising strategies in partnership with the Board and Development Committee.
Cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, and community partners.
Oversee marketing, communications, and branding to enhance visibility and engagement.
Governance & Board Relations
Serve as a non-voting liaison to the Board, providing timely and accurate information.
Support Board committees, particularly in operations, finance, and program impact.
Collaborate with the Board President on strategic initiatives and organizational priorities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field preferred.
10+ years of progressive leadership experience, ideally in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
Proven success in team leadership, program execution, and operational management.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and organizational growth.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement.
