Job Description
Responsible for the creation of Institution wide philanthropic plans and implementation strategies, including the management of a team consisting of several schools throughout the institution in order to influence positive fundraising goals. Oversees the management of donor portfolios for two or more schools. Provides leadership to the department in developing and implementing strategies to meet long and short range goals and objectives in the areas of major gifts, individual and corporate giving, foundation grants, planned giving, fundraising and special events and alumni giving and cultivates high level donor support for the Institution.
Responsibilities
Develops, implements and monitors fundraising and philanthropic activities that advance strategic University-wide programs and other Institutional priority areas to build institutional donor support that also compliments donor goals for long term relationships. Develops donor and prospect relationships to increase the number of donors, university wide, and expand donor support for institutional priorities. Also, develops donor strategies in order to cultivate and steward long term philanthropic support. This includes major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, foundation support, corporate support, grants, events and alumni events across the institution. Manages a portfolio of donors for two or more schools, including high potential prospects and major donors; leads strategic development of new donor relationships for the institution including planning and coordination of donor cultivation strategies and gift solicitation for major and planned gifts. Plans and implements short, medium and long range fund raising plans for prospects and donors to support the development of long term donor relationships that compliment donor interests and meet the current and future needs of the Institution. Supervises the planning, production and distribution of donor related publications to assure a positive image of the Institution and support cultivation and stewardship that advances fundraising and philanthropy across all areas of giving. Establishes effective relationships with key internal University partners including Deans, Department Chairs, Institute and Center Directors, Faculty and key University volunteer partners to advance donor development and support strategic university philanthropy. Provides supervision and management of department employees in several schools throughout the institution including front line Director’s and other development staff to guide, measure and assess performance for employees and contribute to decisions regarding assignments, schedules and promotions. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to build strong, effective lasting donor relationships and serve as an accomplished resource for fundraising initiatives. Advanced Strong analytical and writing skills and leadership experience in interpreting and translating a strategic vision into an operational model or proposal that successfully achieves desired fundraising and programmatic results. Advanced Skilled in fundraising and special events planning, organization and management to accomplish philanthropic results that benefit the mission. Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint and experience with Raiser’s Edge fundraising software. Advanced Detail oriented with meticulous planning and organizational skills while balancing multiple priorities. Advanced Builds and maintains positive working relationships, within individual work groups and across departments, through open communication and collaboration; works with others to accomplish goals and objectives. Advanced Ability to lead, direct and contribute to initiatives and processes within the Institution while creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Advanced
Required Skills
Nine (9) to Twelve (12) years experience in fundraising, public relations and alumni relations with strong knowledge of Institutional Advancement and Development is required
