We are a non-profit organization committed to providing high-quality, inclusive, and accessible adult learning opportunities to support personal, educational, and community development. Our programs include literacy and numeracy, English language learning, digital skills, workplace readiness, and lifelong learning initiatives for adults of all backgrounds.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Executive Director to lead the organization through its next phase of growth and innovation.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

  • Assess and determine staffing needs for program delivery and organizational operations
  • Implement HR policies, procedures, and practices; develop and maintain staff job descriptions
  • Foster a positive, safe, and compliant work environment in line with relevant legislation
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard staff with the skills and values aligned to the organization’s mission
  • Oversee contracts for staff, facilitators, and instructors, ensuring policy compliance
  • Provide staff orientation and ensure ongoing training and development
  • Lead performance management processes, including regular monitoring and annual reviews
  • Coach, mentor, and support staff to improve performance

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Post-secondary education in education, social services, human resources, or a related field, combined with experience in leadership, community programming, or adult education.
  • Experience in managing budgets
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit/ charity organizations
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations.
  • Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization
  • Knowledge of grant writing/reporting, specifically outcomes based measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of human resources, financial and project management
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for Word processing, E-mail (G-Suite Applications),
  • Enthusiasm for lifelong learning and helping others
  • Ability to recognize and respect individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of the value of continuing education for the whole community
  • Willingness to promote organization and learning opportunities
  • Must possess a valid Alberta driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for travel.
