POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Executive Director is hired and supervised by the Board of Directors of Elizabeth Fry Kingston and serves as the Chief Executive Officer. In keeping with the gender-specific and anti-oppressive philosophy, policy and programs of the agency, as established by the Board of Directors, the Executive Director has responsibility for policy implementation and the effective management of the agency and all its programs, including but not limited to the Joyce Detweiler Community Residential Facility, Kaye Healey Homes, and the agency. The Executive Director recommends and participates in the formulation of new policies; any decisions within the existing policies: the planning, organizing, direction, coordination and monitoring of the operation of the agency’s programs of direct service, community education and supportive housing; and, provides leadership in the development of the new programs.
The successful candidate is also responsible for human resource matters directly related to the individual staff members, including hiring, supervision, evaluations, disciplinary actions, dismissals, and professional development. They sit on all internal committees and relevant external committees. They maintain effective internal and external relationships.
The successful candidate would oversee the development of the annual budget for all agency programs, negotiate funding contracts, ensure reporting requirements are fulfilled, and prepare funding proposals for new programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education qualifications for this position are typically acquired through a master’s degree in a social science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least five years of work experience in a social service delivery setting where high managerial skills were used in human resource management, budget preparation and administration, policy implementation, program development, and fundraising.
Stellar communication skills; strong public/community relations; a demonstrated commitment to social justice and to improving the status of women; knowledge of the criminal justice system and its impact on women.
Proactive advocacy skills, and clinical skills as applied to corrections; knowledge of the Housing Services Act and familiarity with social housing framework.
