JOB SUMMARY

The Idaho Military Museum is seeking a dynamic and passionate Director to lead our institution in preserving and sharing Idaho’s rich military history. This role is ideal for a community-oriented leader with a knack for operations and fundraising. The Director will oversee daily museum activities while building strong relationships with local businesses, organizations, and individuals to secure ongoing corporate and private donations. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in museum or nonprofit management, with a focus on operations and fundraising.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building community relationships and donor networks.
  • Knowledge of military history or a passion for historical preservation is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

    Pay: $3,328.00 per month
    Expected hours: 32 per week

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the museum, supervise IMHS Curator and volunteer staff, exhibit maintenance, visitor services, and facility upkeep.
  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with the Adjutant General and his/her representatives while keeping the President of the IMHS Board informed of any pertinent information between the IMHS and Gowen Field.
  • Attend monthly IMHS board meetings and present a monthly status report to the board.
  • Oversee the maintenance of current displays and the creation of new attractions to draw new and existing visitors.
  • Contact base personnel regarding any maintenance needed to be performed outside the scope of the museum’s capabilities and responsibilities.
  • Work with base security services to ensure only those with a need have keys and codes for the building.
  • Maintain a working relationship with vendors and order supplies for the Gift Shop.
  • Maintain a relationship with Boise State University to support annual BSU events and to recruit interns.
  • Maintain relationships with Idaho schools for field trips.
  • Drive fundraising efforts to secure annual donations, grants, and sponsorships to support museum programs and growth.
  • Develop and implement strategies to establish and nurture relationships with community stakeholders, corporations, and private donors.
  • Recruit new members and report to the membership committee.
  • Post events and news to the museum’s social media to inform the community and to promote the museum.
  • Collaborate with volunteers, board members, and partners to enhance museum programming, events, and outreach.
  • Ensure compliance with museum archival standards.
  • Represent the museum at community events, networking opportunities, and public engagements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local museums and national museums
