Oversee the execution of strategic initiatives, organizational priorities, and shared service programs supporting member institutions and collaborative partnerships. Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization, representing collective interests in discussions related to academic libraries, scholarly communication, and shared infrastructure initiatives. Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development support to staff teams, working groups, and task forces while fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, innovation, and transparency. Develop and manage organizational budgets, oversee financial operations, support audits, and pursue grant funding and external partnerships to ensure long-term sustainability. Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional leaders, vendors, nonprofit organizations, technology partners, and external stakeholders. Guide organizational decision-making related to library technologies, shared systems, open-source solutions, interoperability, and evolving digital ecosystems. Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory obligations while managing vendor agreements, memorandums of understanding, and partnership contracts. Facilitate board operations including meeting preparation, strategic reporting, governance support, and policy oversight. Requirements: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or an advanced degree in nonprofit management, education administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership and administrative experience within academic libraries, library consortia, nonprofit organizations, or comparable collaborative environments. Strong expertise in strategic planning, organizational leadership, budgeting, resource management, and operational oversight. Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships and lead within mission-driven, multi-stakeholder organizations. Excellent written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills. Deep understanding of library technologies, shared systems, open-source ecosystems, scholarly communication, and digital infrastructure trends. Experience with grant development, external funding initiatives, and collaborative service models is highly preferred. Familiarity with consortial management, vendor negotiations, governance structures, and shared-cost operational frameworks. Strong leadership style grounded in transparency, empathy, active listening, and community-building principles. Ability to travel regularly, particularly within Indiana, and maintain residency within 250 miles of Indianapolis. Experience working with Boards of Directors and navigating complex organizational governance structures is considered an asset.
