Job Title: Executive Director
FSLA Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Salary Range: $120,000-$170,000 annually, including bonus compensation

POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director oversees all organizational activities and provides proactive leadership and expertise. The position is responsible for the overall direction and management of the organization with a focus on results and opportunities. The Executive Director displays strong, effective leadership, management, and organizational skills, proven commitment to high performance, superior quality in all products, and accountability.
The Executive Director, in consultation with the Board, is responsible for developing a clear strategy for the Longmont Humane Society (LHS) mission-based activities and executing those activities. This position reports to the Board of Directors.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
· Minimum 8 years of experience in nonprofit organizations, preferably in animal welfare and rescue.
· Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or related field. CAWA certification preferred.
· Minimum 8 years of experience in senior management, and leading management teams.
· Experience in financial, operations, and administrative areas.
· Experience in fundraising in a nonprofit and/or animal welfare environment preferred.
· Experience in marketing and communications in a nonprofit environment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong understanding of nonprofit organizational management.
· Understanding of PACFA standards.
· Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills.
· Strong understanding of budgets and issues that impact financial results.
· Working knowledge of Federal and Coloradoemployment law.
· Ability to utilize effective problem solving/decision making skills.
· Experience with MS Office, ERP systems, and fundraising systems.
· Excellent organizational skills: ability to set and accomplish work in order of priority; professionally maintaining composure and effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions.
Working Conditions:
· Office and animal shelter environment.
· Potential exposure to high noise levels and zoonotic diseases.
· Exposure to all weather conditions when working at outdoor events.
· Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
· Frequent use of computers and telephones.
· May be required to work extended hours, including some evening and weekend hours.
