Job Title: Executive Director
Organization: Student Transportation Association of Alberta (STAA)
Location: Work from home aside from Meetings and Conferences
Position Type: Part-Time
Start Date: June 16th, 2025
Salary: $1,240 per month
Average Hours: 30 hours per month
Reports To: President, Student Transportation Association of Alberta
Job Summary:
The Executive Director of the Student Transportation Association of Alberta (STAA) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the association, including managing communications, organizing events, ensuring compliance with bylaws, and maintaining the STAA website. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience in transportation, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. This position requires a commitment to providing excellent service to our members and the public while supporting the executive team in achieving the association’s goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication Management:
  • Manage and respond to email requests from STAA members and the public in a timely and professional manner.
  • Send out weekly updates to members regarding association activities, events, and valuable information.
  • Event Planning and Coordination:
  • Plan and organize conferences, meetings, and other events for the STAA.
  • Attend and facilitate meetings and conferences as required.
  • Set and distribute meeting agendas in advance.
  • Take comprehensive minutes during meetings and ensure accurate records are kept.
  • Administrative and Compliance Duties:
  • Collaborate closely with the executive team to ensure adherence to STAA bylaws and administrative procedures.
  • Ensure follow-up items from meeting minutes are assigned to appropriate executive members and tracked to completion.
  • Send out invoices and manage the collection of yearly membership dues.
  • Website Management:
  • Oversee and manage the STAA website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and engaging.
  • Additional Duties:
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the President or executive team.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in transportation, particularly related to student transportation, is essential.
  • Proven experience in a similar administrative or executive role is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms).
  • Google Drive
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Education:
  • Relevant diploma/certificate or equivalent experience in administration, management, or a related field is preferred.
