Position: Executive Director / Station Manager, CJSR
Reporting to: The First Alberta Campus Radio Association (FACRA) Board of Directors
Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (On-Site)

POSITION SUMMARY

The First Alberta Campus Radio Association (FACRA) is seeking a dynamic and community-minded Executive Director/Station Manager to lead CJSR 88.5 FM, Edmonton’s volunteer-powered campus and community radio station. Rooted in creativity, inclusivity, and grassroots energy, CJSR thrives on the passion of its volunteers and the vibrancy of the local community, offering eclectic music and thought-provoking spoken word content. The ED/Station Manager plays a pivotal role in inspiring and supporting this unique ecosystem, providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and a clear connection between vision and action. From championing bold, diverse programming to ensuring a welcoming space for learning, collaboration, and expression, this role is at the heart of everything CJSR stands for. As a key ambassador for the station, the ED/Station Manager also represents CJSR to regulatory bodies, donors, community partners, and the public, ensuring alignment with its mission to challenge the status quo and elevate underrepresented voices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree or college diploma in Business, Arts Administration, Fundraising, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong budgetary knowledge and financial control.
  • Solid business acumen with expertise in management and volunteer coordination.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including Google Suite and web-based databases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and management abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Skilled in negotiating business contracts and developing fundraising strategies.
  • Demonstrated initiative in generating ideas and implementing improvements.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a management role.
  • Proven experience leading a non-profit or charitable organization.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with a Board of Directors.
  • Community radio or broadcasting experience preferred.
  • Experience in public relations or communications an asset.
  • Familiarity with the post-secondary environment an asset.
