POSITION OVERVIEW

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive of Umbrella and is responsible for leading the implementation of the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic direction. The ED oversees all aspects of operations, including programs and services, financial and human resource management, fund development, communications, and stakeholder relations. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the ED plays a pivotal role in guiding the organization with integrity, empathy, and collaborative leadership.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• A graduate or undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Health Services, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in the non-profit or social services sector.
• Demonstrated commitment to mental health and substance use support and recovery.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Proven leadership and team-building skills with a collaborative and approachable style.
• Strong financial acumen and experience managing complex budgets.
• In-depth knowledge of program development, evaluation, and community-based services.
• Understanding of board governance, non-profit legal requirements, and funding landscapes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
• High emotional intelligence, professional integrity, and ethical judgment.
