St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation is seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead our organization in Saint John, NB.
St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation is dedicated to supporting the health and wellness initiatives of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Their mission is to raise funds to enhance patient care, purchase medical equipment, and support healthcare programs that benefit the Saint John community. Inspired by the stewardship of the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception and grounded in the Philosophy of St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation continues to respond to the changing needs of the people they serve.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or a combination of equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, or a related area.
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising and development initiatives.
  • Experience in healthcare or hospital foundations is an asset.
  • Experience with interacting with a diverse level of stakeholders, from individual donors, professionals within the healthcare sector, to corporate donors.
  • Familiarity with the Greater Saint John community and its philanthropic landscape is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for providing overall leadership and oversight of the Foundation’s operations. Acting as the primary spokesperson and ambassador, the Executive Director will drive the development and implementation of strategic plans, while ensuring the successful execution of fundraising initiatives that directly support the hospital’s mission and goals.
This role is primarily based in-office at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with occasional flexibility to work from home as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Governance

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision in alignment with the Foundation’s mission and goals.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Foundation, representing the organization at community events and public engagements.
  • Report regularly to the Board of Directors, ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective communication.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain a close relationship with the Sisters of Charity as key partners.

Operations & Administration

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Foundation, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and sustainability.
  • Modernize operational practices, including development of KPIs and enhanced reporting to the Board
  • Develop and manage the Foundation’s budget, with financial oversight and direct reporting to the Treasurer/Finance Committee.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to staff, volunteers, and board members to foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Establish and monitor policies, procedures, and systems to support operational excellence.

Fundraising and Development

  • Lead the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events including measuring impact and results.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors and stakeholders.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that align with the Foundation’s mission and enhance community impact.
  • Ensure creation of compelling fundraising proposals, cases for support, and donor materials.
  • Leverage digital tools, social media, and online platforms to broaden reach and strengthen donor engagement.

Communication and Public Relations

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Foundation.
  • Enhance the Foundation’s visibility, brand, and reputation.
  • Develop and execute communication strategies that engage donors, partners, and the broader community.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets and key community stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to diverse audiences.
