Plans and manages the rooms department and related operations of the hotel to achieve excellent guest satisfaction and quality service while exceeding financial goals.
This position is responsible for planning and day-to-day operations of the rooms division. Recommends the department’s budget and manages expenses within approved budget constraints. Major areas of responsibility/management include: Housekeeping and all public areas.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the Rooms Discipline and Hospitality Profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people and complex problems.
  • Ability to study, analyze and interpret complex activities and/or information in order to improve new practices or develop new approaches.
  • Ability to make decision with only general policies and procedures available for guidance.
  • Supervisory/management skills.
  • Must possess communication skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence professionals and/or hotel guests
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the Human Resources in the division in order to attract, retain and motivate the associates; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication, disciplines and terminates, as appropriate.
  • Develops, recommends, implements and manages department’s annual budget, business/marketing plan, forecasts and objectives to meet/exceed management expectations.
  • Implements company & brand programs and manages the operations of the department in a manner consistent with Federal/State laws and regulations.
  • Resolves guest complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction and quality.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • May assume some responsibilities of the General Manager in his/her absence.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and committees as requested.
    Experience:Two to four years in a related role managing a diverse staff.

Normal Hours Required: Minimum of 45 hours per week. Days and times may vary based on needs of the hotel.
