Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a member of the strategic communications team based in the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Dean’s Office, he/she will support the core team with internal/external communications; branding and marketing communications; content creation; media relations, digital communications; and organising events. S/He is expected to be hands-on and to plan and execute multiple communications initiatives, often in partnership, with both University and Department entities.
His/her mandate will be to manage the Faculty’s digital presence. He/she will play a critical role to advance the FASS digital space, identify and reach potential undergraduate / graduate students, industry partners, academic / research collaborators utilising various online platforms that the Faculty owns and manages.
FASS turned 95 this year and is one of the earliest, most established and has amongst the largest student populations in NUS. It is enhancing its curriculum by introducing industry-relevant tracks to identify clearer job pathways for its graduates. Currently, it offers Singapore’s only flexible arts programme allowing students to explore interests in Year One (without penalty) and choose their specialisation anytime from Years 2-4.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advance the Faculty’s digital presence, various online platforms (including website) that the Faculty owns and manages
  • Responsible for planning, optimising and managing website content as a key public communication tool alongside our other digital media channels and assets, based on a

well-conceptualised digital strategy

  • Work with various internal content owners, manage and develop guidelines to ensure all curated content is up to date, accurate, and consistent in style, corporate branding and language
  • Utilise skills in statistics, data analysis and analytical tools to capture, monitor, report, review and analyse website data in order to maintain a highly engaging site
  • Proven track record in producing creative content (with vendors, if necessary) such as videos, photos, infographics, etc, and hands on experience with content management

systems digital storytelling skills including the ability to produce

  • Able to use technology to introduce efficiencies in corporate communications processes,and introduce feedback mechanisms to measure campaign success
  • Source for story leads and produce articles for various platforms to achieve Faculty objectives
  • Support media management; manage media relations/requests; prepare pressreleases/speeches, and monitor media
  • Assist in planning and executing events (open house, outreach talks, faculty events, public lectures, etc)
  • Liaise with external vendors, as necessary
  • Any other duties, as assigned by senior management

QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma/Degree in any discipline (preferably with specialisations in journalism, digital media, marketing communications)

  • Between 2-6 years of work experience, preferably with at least 2 years of relevant in- house or agency experience in areas such as digital and interactive media platforms,

journalism, media relations, marketing communications, branding, or internal communications

  • Familiarity with content management systems particularly Wordpress, computer programming languages, and Internet applications would be an advantage
  • Well-versed in Photoshop and Powerpoint. Video-editing, digital storytelling, image/presentation software skills are a bonus
  • Deep understanding in the best practices of SEO
  • Conceptualise and execute effective content creation for digital campaigns
  • Proficiency in online marketing related tools, such as Adwords, experience with software for data tracking and analytics, such as Google Analytics, and ranking algorithms and trends of search engines and social media channels
  • Possess strong strategic and analytical thinking skills with a deep understanding ofcorporate communications practices, content development, promotions and marketing
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to relate well with people at all levels and possess good service orientation
  • Possess a nuanced sense of what constitutes a strong news story and its essentialelements
  • Good project management skills, able to multi-task and work in a diverse and dynamic team environment
  • Pro-active, quality conscious, attentive to details and results-oriented
