This role is within the Technical Underwriting Center of Allianz Re, which will create a broad and challenging range of responsibilities. The Technical Underwriting Center ensures an aligned technical support to the transactional underwriting units of Allianz Re both in Group and Third Party Business and at the same time hosts the Allianz Group Center of Competence Reinsurance. Future challenges will include the balance between UW technical excellence and business opportunities and the maintenance of sustainable underwriting expertise by a team of highly qualified The role will report to the Head of UW Governance and Technical Underwriting Center in Allianz Re CUO. Key Responsibilities • Develops and maintains market and client overviews with a strong Casualty focus, including Financial Lines • Ensures close cooperation and consistent exchange with the relevant LoBs at Allianz Commercial • Develops in-depths expertise and exploration of Casualty specific trends and developments • Conducts Know How transfer including trainings / seminars / workshops • Leads and/or contributes to Reinsurance Governance Assessments at AZ OE a as a part of the Functional Monitoring of the Group • Leads and/or contributes to Underwriting File Reviews at AZ Re risk carriers • Supports Global P&C Academy regarding Casualty and Reinsurance related topics • Evaluates referrals for critical technical assessments as per Allianz Re Underwriting Guidelines and communicates and explains outcome • Manages referrals under Group corporate rules on behalf of AZ RE (e.g. ASU, AZ FR for P&C Com, AZ FR for P&C Inward RI) • Connects trends and developments to UW technical Frames and Guidelines and to risk management KPIs (e.g. accumulation or hard limits) • Drives defined topics and projects with delegated responsibility • Analyses multifaceted UW technical topics in order to develop solutions /options to contribute to the Group strategy in Casualty • Represents AZ Re and AZ Group in front of internal and external stakeholders (incl. senior management) and manages proactive and transparent communication • Supports AZ RE UW Governance Function regarding Casualty and Reinsurance related topics • Provides senior consultancy on demand to the transactional CUO, CMO and CGRO areas Technical Skills • Excellent understanding of reinsurance practice and techniques • Excellent understanding and interpreting of insurance and reinsurance contract wordings • Excellent understanding of coverage issues General Skills • Ability to cooperate with and build interfaces to senior management • Ability to cooperate with and build interfaces across functions • Project management skills • Analytic and problem solving skills • Ability to present professionally technical topics adequate to audience • Entrepreneurial mindset and result orientation Experience • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in different Casualty lines: i.e. public and product liability; recall; environmental liability; professional indemnity, both insurance and reinsurance • Experience of working in an international environment • Experience in preparation of complex executive decisions • Experience in portfolio, underwriting file and / or governance reviews Qualifications • Academic background (Master/University Diploma or Qualification equivalent) recommended • Legal background a plus • Additional Advanced Professional Qualifications • Proven command of English Language (verbal and written), additional language preferred 84351 | Underwriting | Management | Allianz Executive | Allianz Reinsurance | Full-Time | Permanent
