QUALIFICATIONS & WORK EXPERIENCE

Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution
Previous Railway System experience would be advantageous.

SKILLS

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Comfortable to work hands-on in a maintenance workshops environment alongside other Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Technical Officers.
Able to work independently and as a team effectively adjusting oneself flexibly to different work situations.
Adept with diagnostics and reliability engineering methods such as FMECA, Fault Tree analysis, Weibull analysis and Damage Tolerance Analysis, etc.
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
Effective organizational and planning skills.
Fluent in written and oral communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

The Executive Engineer, Rolling Stock Engineering, is to provide engineering solutions to reliability problems affecting SMRT Trains, Engineering Trains and Plant Equipment. He will be required to independently conduct defect troubleshooting, failure analysis, reliability trending, and develop engineering solutions to the problems identified.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in any SMRT Maintenance Depots or facilities.
  • Work in rotating or fixed shifts (in accordance with MOM guidelines).
  • Work at heights to perform engineering activities. (Training and qualifications will be provided by company.)
  • Work effectively with Ops and Maintenance staffs from the Lines as well as other engineering departments to investigate defects. To develop methods, propose modifications and improve maintenance strategies to rectify them.
  • Analyse and trend condition monitoring and defect data to identify reliability concerns. To develop methods, propose modifications and improve maintenance strategies to overcome them.
  • Draft technical work instructions for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Identify and implement cost effective technologies to enhance SMRT Trains, Engineering Trains and Plant Equipment performances.
  • Support LTA and SMRT projects in reviewing project design specifications and ensure their adequacy for the safety, reliability, maintainability and operability. To provide other engineering support to the projects, as required.
  • Identify and report any safety concerns at the workplace.
  • Undertake any other tasks or functions that are incidental or ancillary to the performance of the works, as assigned by supervisor. (Training and qualifications will be provided by company, as required). Examples include
  • Perform admin functions
  • Respond to operations emergencies activations
  • Support the execution of projects; including verifying contractor’s work completion, providing manpower to support project testing & commissioning, attendance to contractors, etc
