Description
Valiant is looking for an Exercise Planner to join our team!  The Exercise Planner for USEUCOM J7 JEX and JFHQ staff. Plans, coordinates and executes EUCOM’s Tier 1 exercises. This is a journeyman position, and the ideal candidate will possess operational experience that includes awareness and/or participation in joint and combined operations/exercises at the Combatant Command (CCMD) or Component level, and an operational understanding of JTT.                 ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: * Facilitate the coordination and implementation of the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC). * Develop exercise JELC planning conferences / events timelines. * Deconflict JELC conferences / events with other USEUCOM exercise planners and components. * Coordinate and assist exercise leads as required in the various exercise planning stages. * Produce, coordinate, and manage all required messages, pre and post briefs, and support documents, presentations, and spreadsheets for all JELC events. * Establish and maintain Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) schedules to assure coordination and timely execution of exercise tasks and actions. * Advises the uniformed military lead planner on development and composition of the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG) manning document. * Serve as the Deputy Director for the JECG during exercise execution. * Provide technical expertise, advice, and assistance to the JFHQ Branch Chief and staff. * Coordinate with NATO, component, and Joint Staff J7 personnel. * Manage the Joint Training Tool (JTT) to assist planning for joint and combined exercises. * Craft GO/FO level Automated Message Handling System (AMHS) messages. * Utilize command-adopted systems and technology tools to create, manage and deliver exercises. * Support identification of assessment criteria and collection of data to aid in generating assessments. * Develops and builds exercise In Progress Review (IPR) briefs for ECJ3/5/7 senior leaders. * Assists in the development and composition of the exercise TASKORD for assigned exercises. * Provide exercise support to other USEUCOM J7 exercise planning teams as directed outside of assigned exercises. * Provide support of a standard Staff Officer functions. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:  TS/SCI   EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited college or university in applicable field   QUALIFICATIONS:  * 10+years of Military/DoD Civilian/DoD Contractor experience * 2+ years CCMD HQ experience * Multi-theater operational or senior staff (CCMD and/or Joint Staff) experience desired if candidate has no USEUCOM-associated staff experience: * Must be able to travel to countries in the USEUCOM Area of Responsibility. * Should have a working knowledge of United States’ Interagency processes and government agency activities and coordinating processes between USEUCOM Theater and strategic levels. * Able to work under stress and complete short-fused requirements. * Able to work extended hours in support of exercise requirements. * Applicant will possess skills and experience in Microsoft Office computer programs (specifically Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) * Should have experience using Generative AI tools. * Should have knowledge of and experience using Maven Smart Systems. * Applicant will possess an adequate understanding of NATO and its processes. * Applicant will have experience and proven ability to organize/manage several projects. * Applicant must possess the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. WORKING CONDITIONS:  Position: Office environment Work Week: Monday-Friday (may vary based on mission requirements)  Work Hours: 0800 - 1700 (may vary based on mission requirements)  Overtime: Exempt, but surge efforts as required  Travel: As required    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.
